Believe it or not, this was a project I was working on before I knew the plot from Jurassic World - I'm not sure now if I should continue it because it'll look like I'm trying to ride the JW coattails. Basically, it's written exactly like any other nonfiction pet book, with chapters on feeding, training, interpreting body languages and so on, except with "raptor" dinosaurs (10 species are covered and I do go to pains to explain that 'raptor' isn't a real scientific term). There's even a chapter about "wonky raptors" - how to avoid buying from shady genetic engineers who enhance their creations with things they never had in life, like scaly skin, venom, super-speed, human-level smarts and so on (which I admit is a bit of a take-that).

That's an amazing concept. The cover looks great, too!

This is a really great idea for a book. I'd buy the heck out of it.

I'd love some help with the artwork, but unfortunately I'm not in a position to pay anyone :/ I'm just gonna have to muddle through. Maybe if I make enough to do a second edition?

@Viergacht: Actually, book illustrators get paid more like this. The publisher is the one who pays the illustrator, not the author. So, if you still wanted to get an illustrator for your book, you could, but you'd need to bring it up with your publisher. (This, of course, means nothing if you're self-publishing your book.)

Yah, I'm actually a published illustrator - I'd be self-publishing this, since I don't want to mess with all that
