Just kidding it wouldn't be infinite but it would feel like it

This is what my kitchen looked like when my sweetie's uncle came back from ostrich-hunting (behind a link in case you'd prefer not to see gore) and we offered the use of our deep freezer: i.imgur.com/phKQDzX.pngDinosaur drumsticks! If you've never had it, ostrich tastes like lean beef rather than chicken because they're mostly slow-twitch muscle, like mammals. I reckon most non-flying dinosaurs would taste similarly? It's quite good.

Ostrich is delicious I would love to go to town on a giant roast drumstick omnomnom. As for favourite birds, Philippine Eagle. World's only blue-eyed eagle AND it looks like a muppet.

Do I have permission to share my somewhat extensive collection of dusky seaside sparrow photos?

Parrots are awesomely adorable. Half my tumblr feed is cockatiels being silly. Too bad my wife is allergic

There are so many neat extinct birds. Personally, I like the laughing owl in terms of recently extinct taxa, but that's because I love owls. Rails are pretty neat, too. A Laughing owl Sceloglaux albifaces

To all those with an interest in recently extinct birds (or recently extinct animals in general) and/or rare photographs may I recommend the book Lost Animals by Errol Fuller, I own copy myself and it's honestly one of my favorite books. It contains several chapters on extinct birds, theTorterra including the laughing owl. Also, for anyone with a particular interest in Eskimo curlews I'd recommend checking out the book Last of the Curlews by Fred Bodsworth, it's a great read imo. One more thing, while we're (sorta) on the topic of laughing owls, here's a photo I found of a specimen held at the Museum Victoria: ( Source)

Just got back from a walk in the park, where I saw a pair of kolganse chasing off an interloper and then having mad, passionate duck sex. Hopefully we'll be seeing babies soon!

For my birthday, me and my SO visited World of Birds, a privately run sanctuary and wildlife rehab center in Hout Bay, S. Africa. There are a few snaps: African penguins. In the wild they nest in rocks, so WoB had little urns for them to snuggle into. A pair of free-roaming albino peacocks. This owl! I was actually as close as it looks, I've never been so close to a live owl in my life. King vulture preening in the sun. It was impressively large. A cute little mandarin duck. Scarlet ibis. There was a flock of wild sacred ibises (ibii?) stealing fish from the penguin enclosure, too.

More World of Birds snaps! I don't know what this little guy is, but it is awfully pretty. An emu that very nearly got our camera. That was the theme of the day - Pie got pecked by rheas, ducks and a parrot ripped off their mitten. Red Golden pheasant, I think, and some more ducks. I like ducks - I used to have muscovies. Some kind of lory? I don't know parrots that well. These two little charmers were desperate for attention. Salmon-crested cockatoo. This bird was so sweet . . . almost all of the parrots at World of Birds are rescues or given up by their owners. This baby was intently watching me give the two little ones above some twigs and pieces of long grass to chomp on. I pushed a twig in for it, too, assuming it wanted to play, but instead it leaned down and scratched its head on the end. So I very gently began scratching it on the head and chest with the twig and it closed its eyes and just soaked up the attention. I wondered what its story was. A beautiful hand-carved fishing eagle coffin from Ghana. Pie getting loved on by a squirrel monkey. I was the only one who didn't get piddled on that day! We were lucky enough to have a nice long chat with the World of Birds founder while we were watching the monkeys.
